《老娘泪》的剧本源自两个真实案件。一个是四川的交通厅长，犯了受贿罪，他的母亲已经80岁了，她不知道儿子到底犯了什么罪，以为就是欠了钱，就带着孙子去卖花来还儿子欠的钱，让人很感动。还有一个是儿子成了黑社会分子，案发之后跑了，为了逃避法律制裁整容了。母亲花了三年时间走遍全国去找他，终于把儿子找了回来。。When a young woman's niece and nephew are threatened with foster care after her sister is hospitalized following yet another overdose, she flees with them until they land in the sleepy town of Bethlehem just before Christmas and a series of kindnesses and coincidences gives the trio a chance at happiness.。
